This is a Big Dill

What a time to be alive. So much has happened between January 2020 and now that it’s hard to even visualize the last two years. It doesn’t help that these years of quarantine have curtailed my short term memory down to that of a gold fish, and an attention span to match. Beyond that, I’ve done a lot of good shit in the pandemic! I was fortunate to weather the worst of it living in an old Victorian house in Oakland with my best friend, got some cats for companionship, and around April of 2021 moved to Chicago, where I am now.

I wouldn’t say that the story starts here by any means, but this is where I think it starts to get really interesting. First, I came to Chicago for work, and spent the next few months getting to know my new city and figuring out where I fit in the grand scheme of life. Eventually I worked up the courage to sign up for a writing class at The Second City, and I loved it so much I signed up for another class immediately after the first session. I was enrolled in writing 1 and stand up 1 simultaneously, and I had an absolute blast. Somewhere around this time I was invited to a virtual open house for the Second City Film School, which I attended and was immediately compelled to apply. I slapped a video essay together and lo and behold, I was in. It felt like my life was just starting again, or like I had a will to live again (those were some dark days during quarantine, am I right?).

Since starting that program I have come much more in touch with my feelings about television, and how passionate I am about watching good shows and having what I call "tv friends.” It’s a piece of me that I feel should be shared with you, dear reader, in the hopes that you too can find pieces of yourself within the beloved tv families that you tune into.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you’ll stay a while.
